Hung Drum Jams - Rhythmic Gatherings
Weekly gatherings for Hang drum and drum enthusiasts - creating rhythms, exploring sounds, and connecting through music in a judgment-free space
The Invitation
Music isn't about perfection. It's about presence, connection, and the joy that emerges when people gather around rhythm and sound.
Join us for Hung Drum Jams - informal gatherings where we explore Hang drums, frame drums, and whatever percussion instruments show up. No experience required, no musical background needed. Just curiosity about sound, willingness to explore, and openness to whatever emerges when we play together.
What Happens
We sit in a circle. We have instruments - handpans, frame drums, shakers, whatever people bring. We start simple. We listen. We respond. We build rhythms together.
Some sessions we might:
- Explore traditional Hang drum rhythms
- Create spontaneous compositions
- Practice handpan techniques
- Share songs or melodies we love
- Just listen to the space between sounds
The music finds its own way. Sometimes quiet and meditative. Sometimes energetic and full. Always collaborative.
Who This Is For
This gathering is for you if:
- You play handpan, frame drum, or other percussion
- You're interested in Hang drum music or rhythms
- You want to explore music without pressure to perform
- You're curious about group improvisation
- You believe music can be a form of connection
- You want to experience the joy of collective sound-making
You don't need to be a musician. You don't need to "be good." You just need to want to listen and play.
What You Need
- An instrument if you have one (handpan, drum, shaker, etc.)
- Or just yourself - we have some instruments to share
- A web browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge)
- Microphone and camera (camera optional but encouraged)
- Willingness to explore sound without judgment
How to Join
These jams happen when people express interest. Right now it's in maintenance mode - ready to wake up when the right group gathers.
If this resonates, reach out through the contact page. Tell me:
- What draws you to drum jams
- What instruments you play (if any)
- What you're hoping to explore musically
When we have a small group (4-8 people works beautifully), we'll arrange our first gathering. From there, the rhythm finds itself.
The Philosophy
Music in maintenance mode - not performance, not production, not achievement. Just presence with sound. The robot caretaker watches over our rhythms with infinite patience.
When we play together without pressure, something magical happens. The music becomes a mirror for our connection. The rhythms reflect our shared humanity.
Come as you are. Play as you can. Listen as you will.
Interested? Get in touch and let's see if this rhythm is calling us both.
